RASC - COMPETITIVE TEAMS

A LETTER FROM SAM HEAP TECHNICAL DIRECTOR MHSA

Hi to all the Players, Coaches and Parents,

Just wanted to send an email to outline the next few weeks for the RASC programming as it may be slightly different from previous years.

I am extremely excited to start working with the players and coaches within RASC & look forward to ‘building future Rattlers the right way’.

RASC Programming & Outline

Being the competitive program for MHSA we involved want everyone to understand this is a learning environment for ALL players, coaches and officials.

In my role as Technical Director, I will be using all my expertise to make sure that any player or coach involved in the RASC programming is being challenged outside their comfort zone to develop to their fullest potential. Although I will not be the one delivering the on-field sessions, I will be present as well as the person planning the sessions for each group, working with the coaches on the sidelines to improve their session delivery, and most of all ensuring that we are create, what I previously mentioned, a true learning environment that challenges and pushes everyone involved.

I want to stress that somethings during the season may be different to how run previously on-field i.e., playing style etc. At any stage a player, coaches or parent wants clarification, I will always be happy to field questions and provide rationale. Throughout the course of the season MHSA/RASC want the lines of communication to always be open so that everyone always feels they understand the direction the club is going on a technical side.

RASC Evaluations 26-29th Sept

Evaluations will be happening throughout next week, with each group U13, U15 and U17 having two sessions each.

The first session will be a technical based session that gives the players opportunity to show their technical ability during the course of 3 different drills, and the second more of a game play situation which allows them to demonstrate their tactically ability also.

I will lead all of the sessions during the week, coaches that are interested in RASC & that have applied to coach this season will be assisting me during the evening (in the age group they want to work with).

All players participating in the RASC Evaluations will be asked to tryout in their birth year age group, there will be no playing up requests granted for these evaluations (although some players may be asked to attend an extra session if requested).

RASC Selection

Approximately a week following the evaluations, all RASC team listings and coaching selections will be announced.

Players/parents will have a few days to accept the roster spot, sign codes of conduct (player and parent) and register for the upcoming season.

No player will be allowed on the field without a signed code of conduct being submitted from themselves and a parent/parents.

RASC Meeting 6th October at 7pm

Shortly before the RASC start date I will hold a quick meeting in person to set out exactly what is being coached this season, and how the stage will be set for RASC.

During this meeting I will discuss points on how players, coaches and parents can all play their part to ensuring it’s a successful season.

There will be a Q&A session also included and I will be happy to answer any question you have on the RASC program and the short/long term vision of the program.

I hope this sets out a clear timeline of events for the next couple of weeks for the RASC program.

Kind Regards

Sam Heap

RASC  (U13+)

Players will be coached an advanced curriculum with RASC coaches assisted by the MHSA Technical Director, Sam Heap. The sessions will be practice based, high intensity and continue to ‘build future Rattlers the right way’. As players move through RASC they will continue to develop and master strong technical players habits, understand the tactical side of the game and build an enhanced fitness level needed for high level soccer.

As this is the competitive stream of MHSA aimed at the committed player, there will be opportunity for exhibitions and tournaments (some regional travel required).

Coaches involved in the RASC program will also undergo training & clinics with the TD, aimed at improving their on-field delivery, building on their current game understanding and working towards the new RASC playing philosophy – creating a true learning environment for all which benefits all of our soccer community short and long term.
